Craig and Jennifer Janney have returned to their
alma mater as the new Associate Ministers to the
University at Chowan University.
MURFREESBORO,
NC – Chowan University welcomes back Craig and Jennifer Janney as the new
Associate Ministers to the University. They will assist Mari Wiles,
Minister to the University, in the area of campus ministry, as well as
teaching, serving as chaplain to the student body, student recruitment,
and helping to bring an obvious Christian influence to the Chowan campus.
Craig and Jennifer Janney both received their B.A. in Religion from Chowan
University in 2004. They continued their education at the M. Christopher
White School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University where they both
received their Master of Divinity in Pastoral Studies in 2007.
While at Chowan, the couple was deeply involved in school activities. Both
were student-athletes, Craig was a football player and served as captain
his Junior and Senior years and Jennifer was a cheerleader (4 years) and
soccer player (freshman year). The couple were natural campus leaders and
participated in FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), CSU (Christian
Student Union), Bible Study, and numerous other activities. “At a big
campus, you can be involved in one or two things. But here, we were
involved in everything, which helped to keep us well-rounded,” stated
Jennifer. In addition to these activities, Craig was also a Leadership
Scholar, received the Most Outstanding Student Award, and grew his hair
for “Locks for Love.” Jennifer is a gifted speaker and singer, and was
recently ordained by Meherrin Baptist Church.
Working together is nothing new to the newly married couple. While at
Gardner-Webb, they served as Co-Ministers of Worship and Students at
Christ Covenant North Church. “I will always have a passion for students.
The shared pastoral ministry allows for a more rounded ministry,” stated
Craig. “We are pastors in a non-traditional sense and place. It feels
good,” continued Craig. The couple’s love for one another shines through
and will be a guiding light for the students at Chowan.
“We now have three full-time ministers serving our campus community. Craig
and Jennifer are a vibrant, young couple and will revolutionize our
religious life on campus. Their campus involvement as well as promoting
and recruiting Christian students coincide with the vision of the
University,” stated Dr. Chris White, President, Chowan University.
