Why Join?

The Alumni Association, founded in 1853, builds lifelong relationships between alumni and their alma mater and works to make Chowan University the strongest academic institution possible. Here are 6 ways that the association empowers the university, its alumni family and the value of an Chowan University diploma.

Student Scholarships and Recruitment
Alumni Association members across the country recruit top applicants to Chowan through direct contact or through programs. To attract the best and brightest students, the CUAA can provide merit and need-based scholarships.

Award Winning Communications
§ CU Today magazine and CU Connect informs readers of Chowan’s achievements, challenges, people, and programs.

Faculty Support
The Alumni Association assumes the responsibility of recognizing and awarding outstanding and deserving faculty. Each year, the Association will recognize faculty members for their dedication, commitment, and arduous work.

Student Membership
Through Chowan’s new STAT initiative (Students Today Alumni Tomorrow), undergraduate members will receive benefits, services and discounts and build a lifelong connection with their alma mater.

Homecoming
The Alumni Association helps keep Chowan traditions alive. Each fall, alumni and current students are invited to Homecoming —a weekend of entertainment, including tailgates, reunions, and of course, the lively and famous Homecoming Parade.

National Rankings
It has been shown that alumni participation is a factor how universities are evaluated and ultimately, how an institution is ranked. Membership in your Alumni Association helps Chowan rise in these national rankings.
