Edith Vick Farris ’53

Edith Vick Farris ’53 has given back to her alma mater in countless ways. She has honored her parents, Dewey and Ollie Vick, with a scholarship in their memory; established a scholarship in memory of one of Kelford’s most noted teachers, Miss Mattie Livermon, herself a Chowan alumna. In addition, she has also made other donations to the University such as new front doors for the McDowell Columns, donating rooms in the soon to be renovated Jenkins Residence Hall, Chowan’s mattress campaign, and Book of Memory. She is also responsible for the Classes of the 50s newsletter, and cookbook entitled “Gather ‘Round Our Table,” in which proceeds from the sell of the cookbook go towards the landscaping fund at Chowan. Edith has also served on the Board of Visitors, an Ex-Officio member of the Board of Trustees, and the Alumni Board of Directors. She and her husband, Phil, reside in Massanutten, VA and have a son.
